Karolina Muchova's spectacular tweener lob has been voted as the 2025 WTA Shot of the Year.

In February, the Czech tennis player - ranked at No. 19 in the world - played against 12th-ranked Clara Tauson in the semifinal of the WTA 1000 tournament of Dubai.

After losing the first set, Muchova managed to clinch a second set through a tie-break and force a decider. With the two players tied to two games apiece and Tauson having a game point, the Dane forced the Czech to come to the net before playing a great lob. But the 2023 French Open ran to the ball - managed to reach it - and then delivered a remarkable tweener lob to save the game point.

Now, that shot has been named as the best of the year on the WTA Tour. Here is how it all looked.

Despite some brilliance, Muchova ended up losing the match

When the fifth game continued, Tauson managed to hold to her serve and go 3-2 up. In the following game, Muchova also held to her serve to level the score to three games apiece. Unfortunately for the Czech tennis star, she then suffered a collapse and lost the next three games as Tauson went on to complete a 6-4 6-7 (4) 6-3 win in just less than three hours of play.

"It was a great match. What can I say? Muchova is such a great player ... I don't know how I won today, but I tried to keep my cool and play some great tennis," Tauson said after the match.

In the Dubai final, Tauson was beaten by Mirra Andreeva, who collected her first WTA 1000 title.
