SmackDown began with a video recap of last weeks womens WarGames storyline and the follow-up from Raw. Joe Tessitore and Corey Graves welcomed viewers as backstage shots showed Asuka, Charlotte Flair, and Team MFT.

Backstage, Cathy Kelley caught up with LA Knight. He was frustrated to hear hed be facing another mystery opponent but kept it cool, saying he knew she was just the messengerand even gave a shoutout to her mom in the crowd.

Jey Uso vs. Rusev

Jey Uso then made his entrance through the audience. Ring announcer Mark Nash introduced Jey Uso as he made his way to ringside, slapping hands with the commentary team along the way. Inside the ring, Jey hyped up the crowd. Corey Graves noted that while it looks fun on TV, experiencing Jeys entrance live is something else.

Rusev then made his entrance from the stage. As he walked out, he looked into the camera and said he was coming for John Cena. Michael Cole noted that the winner of this match would face the winner of LA Knight vs. the mystery opponent in a semifinal match on Raw. Rusev took control early as the match headed into a commercial break.
