The ATP season ended with Jannik Sinner's win over Carlos Alcaraz in the final of the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin, which gave fans another chapter in a rivalry destined to go down in tennis history.
The Italian ace completed a simply amazing year, in which not even the three-month ban that was imposed on him by WADA prevented him from lifting several very important trophies. The 24-year-old from Sesto Pusteria also confirmed that he is almost unbeatable in indoor conditions and has decided to skip the Davis Cup Finals in Bologna with the aim of preparing well for the start of next season.
Carlitos - on the other hand - has repeatedly stated that 2025 was the best year of his young career from the point of view of continuity and it is no coincidence that he ended it at the top of the ATP ranking, surpassing the formidable threshold of 12,000 points. Although the ATP Finals were not played on his favorite surface, the 22-year-old from Murcia put in a series of brilliant performances in Turin to reach the final act for the first time in his career. He had several chances against Sinner last Sunday and perhaps he could have done something more in some moments, but he was also limited by an injury that will prevent him from dragging his Spain to the Davis Cup Finals this week.

Speaking on 'Tennis Channel', Emma Raducanu's top analyst and former coach Mark Petchey revealed the main tactical key that allowed Jannik to prevail over Carlos in the final act of the ATP Finals last Sunday: I thought that Jannik did a nice job on his second serve, even though the first serve wasnt behaving as it should have done today, I thought hed protected his second serve much better than he did at the US Open.
Again, partly due to the conditions being a little quicker, the ball jumped onto Carlos, who was trying to sort of manufacture the right return position. I never really felt like he thought he was in the right place.
