Iga Swiatek handled the job as dominantly as possible today as the six-time Grand Slam champion annihilated world No. 909 Elyse Tse 6-0 6-1 in just 43 minutes to secure Poland's win over New Zealand in their Billie Jean King Cup Play-offs match.
Earlier today, Katarzyna Kawa defeated Vivian Yang 6-4 6-4 to give Poland an early lead over New Zealand in Gorzow.
Since Swiatek was playing against a player ranked more than 900 spots below her, it was a perfect opportunity for the Polish team to clinch the victory after the opening two matches. And the world No. 2 instantly got to the business, taking the opening nine games of the match to open a 6-0 3-0 lead.

Tse, who has been mainly playing at the Futures level this year, managed to serve out the fourth game of the second set and avoid a bagel. However, it didn't change much since Swiatek claimed another break in the sixth game before closing out the match on her serve in the following game.
Next up for Poland in Group B will be Romania. If the Swiatek-led Poland also beats Romania, they will clinch the top spot of the group and a place in next year's Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers.
Swiatek impressively bounced back from a WTA Finals heartbreak
Before coming to Gorzow, Swiatek suffered a heartbreak at the WTA Finals. After easily beating Madison Keys in her opening Riyadh match, the former world No. 1 suffered back-to-back defeats to Elena Rybakina and Amanda Anisimova. To make it all worse, she lost those matches from a set up - it was the first time in the 24-year-old Pole's career that she lost back-to-back matches after winning the first set.
