Jannik Sinner's rise over the past two seasons has allowed Italian fans to love tennis again, as the 24-year-old from Sesto Pusteria has had an impressive progression to become the new leader of the men's tour alongside his huge rival Carlos Alcaraz.
These two players have projected men's tennis into a new dimension, sharing the Grand Slam titles and leaving the crumbs to all their opponents as the Big 3 had done in the past. Jannik's 2025 season was amazing despite the three-month ban he was given by WADA, due to which he was unable to compete from February to May missing four Masters 1000.
Despite the accumulated stress and pressure, the four-time Grand Slam champion played his best tennis again lifting five trophies in total. He was also in the running to end the year at the top of the ATP rankings thanks to his triumphs in Vienna and Paris, but this was not possible because Carlitos Alcaraz has already won three matches at the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin qualifying for the semifinals as the first in his group.

Pennetta pays tribute to Sinner
Sinner for his part is already certain of a place in the semifinals in this tournament and will face Alex de Minaur tomorrow, an opponent he has beaten in all the clashes on the professional tour.
No one has any doubts that the Italian star has the potential to write important pages in tennis history and enter the short list of the best ever.
During a long interview with 'OA Sport', former US Open champion Flavia Pennetta paid tribute to her young compatriot: "He will be remembered as one of the best athletes ever, I have no doubt about it. Jannik is a serious guy, he knows what he wants and comes from an extraordinary family. The principles that have been transmitted to him are those that he applies on the tennis court and he will give us many joys in the coming years as well."
