Kai Trump didn't shine in her LPGA Tour debut at The Annika, but few expected the 18-year-old to be dominant.
Kai Trump received a sponsor invitation for this tournament. It was known that there was small chance to achieve a good result given the fierce competition and her lack of experience.
The young golfer shot a round of 13 over par on Thursday, which left her in last place out of 108 players.
It is important to note that conditions at Pelican Golf Club were not ideal given the windy afternoon.
The nervousness of the young golfer could be felt from the very beginning, but at some moments Kai Trump looked great and managed to show the positive sides of her game.
Kai Trump stressed that it is a great feeling to play against the best players in the world and in some moments even surpass them. The young American is satisfied with her game, aware that she is still relatively young and has a great future ahead of her.
"I was definitely more nervous than I expected, but I thought I hit a lot of great shots out there," she said. "I hit a lot of good shots just to the wrong spots.
It was pretty cool because I know I hit it far, but kind of playing with the best players in the world and being literally right there or even outdriving on some of the holes, it felt pretty good. Felt like my game is in a good spot, and especially only being a senior in high school."- she said, as quoted by ESPN.
Kai's future
How much Donald Trump's granddaughter can really achieve in the coming days and in the future is difficult to say precisely. Nevertheless, she is an important figure on social media and her presence at every tournament arouses additional interest. The organizers of the tournament knew that the arrival of such a young and well-known figure could be crucial not only for this tournament, but also for the popularity of golf in general.
