Klay Thompson has heard criticism throughout his thirteen-year NBA career, but this week he drew a line.
After former NBA guard Jason Williams used an explicit term to describe Thompsons girlfriend, Megan Thee Stallion, during an episode of the Hoopin N Hollerin podcast, the Dallas Mavericks veteran responded with anger, and disappointment.
Williams, joined by Patrick Beverley and Barstool Sports Rone, was discussing Thompsons early-season shooting struggles when he pivoted to the All-Stars relationship with the Grammy-winning rapper. Williams then launched into a story he said came from old folks back home in West Virginia, saying:
Im from West Virginia, man. Ive been taught a lot by some old folks, old white folks. They say ps powerful. They say its so powerful it only takes one to drag a battleship across a desert, thats how powerful it is.
Klay Thompson I aint saying thats what it is, but that might be what it is. That aint taking nothing away from Megan Thee Stallion. She might be a great girl, great for him. But I dont know if shes great for the shot.
The clip circulated quickly online, especially after the show posted a graphic featuring Thompson and Megan Thee Stallion alongside the caption, Whats going on with Klay Thompson?
Thompson wasted no time responding directly in the comment section, calling out the hosts for crossing a line.
Referring to my GF as a p is so disgusting and disturbing, Thompson wrote. Especially from someone who played in the NBA . How would yall feel if I referred to your wives in such a way ? Do better fellas. Very disappointing.
Thompson, now 35 and in his first season with Dallas, has been open about the challenges of adjusting to a new team after years of injuries. But this incident, he made clear, had nothing to do with basketball.
