It looks like fans hoping to see a superteam at Survivor Series are out of luck.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE has no plans to feature both John Cena and Roman Reigns teaming up with CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, and Jey Uso in the mens WarGames match.

The speculation originally stemmed from a shift in plans following Cenas recent title win in Boston. After defeating Dominik Mysterio for the Intercontinental Championship, it appeared the originally rumored match between Cena and Dominik in San Diego was off the table. That sparked ideas about Cena and Reigns potentially uniting for a dream WarGames lineup. But Meltzer shut that down fast.

This contradicts earlier reports which suggested WWE was looking to build a team around CM Punk and Roman Reigns in response to Seth Rollins injury at Crown Jewel, which led to the World Heavyweight Title being vacated. At the time, Wrestling Observer Newsletter stated:

But with Reigns and Cena apparently off the board, WWE is going in a different direction. On the November 10 episode of RAW, General Manager Adam Pearce, made it official: WarGames is happening, and its currently a 3-on-3 battle. CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, and Jey Uso will take on Logan Paul and The Vision (Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed), with two more participants yet to be named on each side.

Its a major pivot from what was rumored, and a clear sign that WWE is keeping things fluid as Full Gear approaches.

What do you think about WWE dropping the dream team concept? Would you have preferred to see Cena and Reigns alongside Punk? Drop your thoughts in the comments below.
