Joao Fonseca will compete at the ATP 250 event in Adelaide at the beginning of 2026. The organizers of the event in the second week of the season have signed apromising youngster who will wrap up the season in the top-25.
Joao enjoyed a stellar run Down Under this year, winning the Canberra Challenger and qualifying for the Australian Open main draw in style. The young gun made his Major debut against Andrey Rublev and sealed the deal in straight sets!
Thus, he became one of the youngest players with a top-10 win at Majors since 1990. The stage was set for a strong season, and Fonseca wants to replicate that in 2026.
Ahead of the new season, the Brazilian will embrace an exhibition match against Carlos Alcaraz in Miami in December. Speaking of December, Joao wrapped up the 2024 season with the Next Gen ATP Finals crown in Jeddah.

He used that boost early in 2025 and experienced his first Major win before lifting an ATP title in February in Buenos Aires. Fonseca became one of the youngest winner of the ATP title since the start of the ATP Tour and underlined his huge potential.
How it usually goes with learning curves, the young guns struggled to repeat those results in the upcoming months, although he conquered another Challenger crown between Indian Wells and Miami.
Joao embraced a mediocre 12-13 run between Rio de Janeiro and the US Open. However, he used those wins and losses to learn more about his game and his rivals.
A teenager grabbed three victories in the Davis Cup and the Laver Cup, where he got a chance to meet his idol, Roger Federer. Fonseca traveled to Europe for the indoor swing and went all the way in Basel.

The young gun bested three top-25 rivals and became one of the youngest champions on the ATP 500 level. He cracked the top-30 with those points and made further moves when his rivals dropped last year's points.
Thus, Joao will start the new season from the to-25, wrapping up the year after a stellar progress and hoping for more during the upcoming 2026 campaign.
