Only one tournament separates Jannik Sinner from the end of his 2025 season, as the Italian ace has decided to skip the Davis Cup Finals in Bologna. The 24-year-old from Sesto Pusteria who extended his streak of consecutive victories in indoor conditions to 26 has just lifted the trophy at the Vienna ATP 500 and the Paris Masters 1000, returning to the top of the ATP rankings also thanks to the premature elimination of his main rival Carlos Alcaraz in the French capital.
The four-time Grand Slam champion has a chance to end the year as No.1, but he must necessarily triumph at the Finals for the second year in a row and must also hope that the 22-year-old Spaniard wins less than three matches in Turin next week.
Regardless of his year-end Masterresult, Jannik's 2025 was still amazing having won two Grand Slam titles and having demonstrated his usual crazy mental strength. As if that were not enough, he also prevailed at the Paris Masters 1000 and won the ATP 500 in Beijing and Vienna.

Despite these incredible achievements, the world number 1 has received a lot of criticism in his country due to his choice to give up the Davis Cup this year. After being decisive for Italy's successes in Malaga in the last two editions, he understood that it was necessary to recharge his batteries this year and prepare for the 2026 season.
In a long interview with the Italian newspaper 'La Stampa', famous actor Pierfrancesco Favino confided that he is a huge fan of Sinner: "I don't think anyone is able to put themselves in his place and judge his choice reliably, unless it's chatting between friends at the bar. Jannik has understood many things about himself in the last period and does not need anyone's advice, having taken responsibility for his decisions. When you're at the top, you have to know that you're alone and everyone feels entitled to express their opinion."
