Amanda Anisimova isn't lacking any confidence after continuously delivering for the past couple of months as the 24-year-old has stated that she "belongs" to the top.
When the 2025 season started, Anisimova had two WTA titles in her collection and was the 36th-ranked player in the game. 11 months later, the American is a WTA 1000 champion - a two-time Grand Slam finalist - and enjoys a career-high ranking of No. 4 in the world.
And Anisimova's breakthrough 2025 season isn't over yet - the American tennis star defeated Iga Swiatek and Madison Keys en route to making the WTA Finals semifinal in her debut at the season-ending tournament.
I feel like I belong at this point," the world No. 4 highlighted.
Anisimova admits even she is positively surprised with her success
Anisimova had a very promising junior career and won the 2017 US Open girls' singles title. But shortly after turning pro, the American started to struggle with major pressure and expectations, which led to her falling into depression and even taking a break from tennis in mid-2023. Now, she appears to be unlocking her potential to the fullest.
If you would have told me a year ago I would be sitting right here, it would be a little hard to believe. I think Ive surprised myself along the way, for sure. Ive definitely hit some goals that I dreamt of early in the year and didnt think that maybe I would be able to achieve them by the end," the 24-year-old admitted.
For a place in the WTA Finals final, another tough task awaits Anisimova as she is due to face Aryna Sabalenka. However, the American has had notable success against the Belarusian so far in her career, beating the world No. 1 in six of their 10 meetings.
This year, Sabalenka claimed wins over Anisimova in the French Open quarterfinal and the US Open final, while the American won their Wimbledon semifinal battle.
