Jannik Sinner's season has been amazing in all respects, although he had to stay away from the professional tour from February to May after he was given a three-month ban by WADA.
In that time, the Italian ace had to miss four Masters 1000 and no one thought he would have a chance of ending the year at the top of the ATP rankings. However, the 24-year-old from Sesto Pusteria has shown his usual impressive consistency in the rest of 2025 by lifting two Grand Slam trophies (at the Australian Open and Wimbledon Championships respectively) and overtaking his huge rival Alcaraz at the top of the ATP rankings thanks to his triumph at the Paris Masters 1000.

At the same time, the four-time Grand Slam champion has faced criticism due to his choice to skip the Davis Cup Finals scheduled in Bologna this month. After leading Italy to two triumphs in Malaga in the 2023 and 2024 editions, the world number 1 has decided to take a break this year wanting to recharge his batteries ahead of the 2026 season.
When the official announcement was made that he would not be present in Bologna, fans and public opinion were divided about it. An Italian tennis legend such as Nicola Pietrangeli accused Jannik of betraying his country, while other former champions such as Adriano Panatta and Paolo Bertolucci expressed more moderate opinions.
Sinner is indifferent to criticism

The Italian star will play the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin from 9 to 16 November and will try to defend the title won twelve months ago.
