Jannik Sinner will chase his first Paris Masters title against Felix Auger-Aliassime. Despite fatigue and physical discomfortfollowing a couple of challenging weeks, the Italian scored four victories in the French capital to reach the final.
Jannik advanced into the title clash without losing a set. Since 2007, when Paris switched to hard court, he is only the third player to achieve that, joining Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.
In addition, Sinner entered the final clash after spending five hours and three minutes in the opening four encounters, moving closer to Roger Federer's record, with the Swiss requiring four hours and 47 minutes in 2011.
The San Candido native left behind all the physical setbacks and played well against four rivals. He bested Zizou Bergs 6-4, 6-2 in an hour and 27 minutes after serving well and providing three breaks from 11 opportunities.
Francisco Cerundolo faced the Italian in the third round. Jannik struggled a bit physically but delivered a 7-5, 6-1 victory in an hour and 25 minutes for a place in the quarter-final.
The favorite lost serve two times but grabbed over half of the return points and turned them into five breaks from eight opportunities. Sinner battled against Ben Shelton in the last eight.
Instead of a tight contest against fellow top-10 rival, world no. 2 provided a 6-3, 6-3 victory in 69 minutes following a rock-solid display. The Italian experienced more physical issues but kept everything under control.
He lost serve once and tamed a left-hander's initial shot to secure four breaks and control the scoreboard. Most importantly, Jannik wasted no time on the court and preserved energy for another top-10 rival.
However, he did not need anything special against world no. 3 Alexander Zverev. The German suffered an injury against Daniil Medvedev the previous night and struggled with movement and energy.
Sinner secured a 6-0, 6-1 win in 62 minutes, reaching the final without dropping a set and with barely over five hours on the clock.
