CM Punk is back on top of WWE, and one very important person made sure to show her love after his emotional winhis wife AJ Lee.
Punk captured the vacant WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Saturday Nights Main Event in Salt Lake City, defeating Jey Uso in a brutal and emotional battle that left the Delta Center crowd roaring. With Seth Rollins out due to injury, Punk and Uso fought to crown the new champand Punk delivered with a flurry of Go To Sleep finishers to close the match.
The moment wasnt just special for fans. Shortly after the bout, AJ Lee posted to her Instagram Stories with a heartwarming photo of their dog Larry sitting in front of the TV while Punk was onscreen holding the gold.
Proud mama and Larry @cmpunk, she wrote over the image, letting the world know just how meaningful the night was for their family.
The win marked Punks seventh world championship reign, but this one carried extra weight. After years away from WWE, a rocky AEW exit, and a long road back to the spotlight, Punks victory wasnt just about a titleit was about redemption.
This return to WWE came after a controversial departure from AEW, a company where Punk initially found a new chapter after his long hiatus from wrestling. However, backstage tensions, injuries, and a chaotic locker room eventually pushed him out. When WWE brought him back, many fans were stunnedbut clearly, Punk was determined to finish his story in his original home.
Now that the gold is back around his waist, its clear AJ Lee and Larry arent the only ones proudPunk proved once again that hes still got it.
