Cody Rhodes has a way about keeping the WWE Undisputed Championship. He may also be one to bend the rules from time to time.
WWE Saturday Nights Main Event went down at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. It was a night full of title matches, and that included Cody Rhodes putting his championship on the line.
Drew McIntyre got Cody Rhodes to accept a stipulation that he can lose the title on DQ or count out. This was the main event spot during the October 31 episode of WWE SmackDown.
This match kicked off Saturday Nights Main Event, and fans were more than ready for it. From the start of the match, Drew McIntyre tried to get Cody Rhodes to break the rules, and force a DQ and a title change. Rhodes sold for a bit to start off, as McIntyre stalked him around the ring to wear him down.
Drew McIntyre kept applying abuse to Cody Rhodes, and the American Nightmare took everything, including a massive backdrop from the Scottish Psychopath. They met each other on the top rope, where Cody nailed Drew with a superplex.
The match kept going, and Cody Rhodes eventually had his title, and he considered whacking Drew. Then McIntyre nailed a one-step Claymore Kick for a near fall. They went outside of the ring, where Cody was able to avoid getting a boot to the face. Then Cody wound up on the apron, where McIntyre pushed him through the table, and he barely beat the count to get back in.
The match continued, and Cody hit a Supercutter for a near fall. Drew got out of a Crossroads attempt, and then he shoved him into the referee. McIntyre hit a Glasgow Kiss after that, and then everyone was down. Drew got the belt from ringside, and he missed a swing with the title before both men collided with crossbody blocks in the ring. Everyone was out cold again.
Drew went for the title belt, but Cody hit a DDT on the championship. The referee didnt see that spot, so the contest continued as Rhodes nailed a Crossroads and got the three count to retain the title.
