Grigor Dimitrov will not compete against Daniil Medvedev in the third round of the Paris Masters. The former finalist withdrew ahead of the second-round clash due to ongoing shoulder issues.
The Bulgarian experienced a massive setback in the fourth round at Wimbledon in July. He led two sets to love against world no. 1 Jannik Sinner before suffering a shoulder injury that forced him to retire.
He sustained a pectoral muscle injury and underwent surgery. The veteran stayed away from the court for nearly four months before returning to action at the Paris Masters, where he played in the final a couple of years ago.
Grigor made a winning return, ousting Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard 7-6, 6-1. Despite a solid performance, Dimitrov experienced discomfort in his troubled right shoulder and withdrew ahead of the next duel.

The Bulgarian came to Paris to test his body. Instead of pushing to the limits, he wanted to listen to his body after such an extended break. Without risking anything, Grigor left Paris after one match.
He will continue his preparations for 2026, seeking a fresh start in the new season and hoping to enter it injury-free. The veteran claimed a tight opener against Mpetshi Perricard and gained a boost.
The former world no. 3 provided three breaks in the second set to control the scoreboard and move through. Unfortunatelly, we will not see him in action against Daniil Medvedev.
