Stefanos Tsitsipas has been the victim of a serious crisis of results in recent seasons and has moved away from the positions he was in at the beginning of his career, also generating several changes in his team and a lot of confusion. The former world number 3 has not been particularly brilliant this year either, with the exception of a flicker he had in February when he triumphed at the Dubai ATP 500 returning to play high-level tennis thanks to the use of a new racket.
However, that triumph in the UAE was only an illusion and the Greek ace's performances were disastrous for most of the season, not forgetting the failure of his professional relationship Goran Ivanisevic whom he had hired to take the place of his father Apostolos. The Croatian legend used very harsh words towards the player from Athens and their collaboration lasted only a couple of months, before 'Tsitsi' announced the return of his father to his team.
Tsitsipas will return in 2026
As if the negative results were not enough, the winner of the 2019 ATP Finals also has to deal with a serious back injury that affects his performance and that does not seem to have a solution for the moment.
He participated in the 'Six Kings Slam' in Saudi Arabia despite being in poor condition and did not play at the Vienna ATP 500, announcing his withdraw shortly before his match against Italian star Lorenzo Musetti. A few days ago, the news became official that Stefanos will not be present at the Paris Masters 1000 and Athens ATP 250 either, ending his 2025 season with bad feelings.
Through his official X profile, top analyst Benoit Maylin was very critical of the Greek star: "Tsitsipas announced his decision to end his 2025 season, playing neither in Paris nor Athens. The collective feeling is that he no longer exists at the highest level and that he is already on a downward trajectory at the age of 27. He is destined to drop out of the Top 30 of the ATP rankings and there is no optimism ahead of 2026."
