Athena isnt shy when it comes to defending AEW and ROHs womens roster, and shes laying down a bold claim against every other promotion in the game.
During an interview with WFAA News in Texas, the current ROH Womens World Champion addressed the topic of a potential all-womens AEW event. While she confirmed Tony Khan has seriously considered the idea, she also made it clear that talent is not the issuebecause, in her eyes, no one else comes close.
Athena believes the only thing standing in the way of an AEW all-womens event is timing, not readiness. According to her, the foundation is already strongespecially with Ring of Honors contributions.
She added that the idea has been on Tony Khans mind for a long time and its not a matter of ifjust when.
Athena is currently teamed up with TBS Champion Mercedes Mon in the tournament to crown AEWs first-ever Womens Tag Team Champions. Outside the AEW/ROH ecosystem, shes also continuing her work with Metroplex Wrestling, which is presenting Who Runs the World? 2an all-womens indie event in Texas this weekend.
Athena has never been one to stay silent, and her claim that AEW/ROH tops the world in womens wrestling is bound to stir up debate. But with a resume like hers, shes more than ready to defend it.
