Coco Gauff looks to be in the best possible place when it comes to her career and life as the American tennis star says "I'm where I'm supposed to be."

Gauff, who was just 15 when she burst onto the scene big time and upset Venus Williams at 2019 Wimbledon, celebrated her 21st birthday in March. The American may be 21 but the majority view her as a veteran and someone who has been on the Tour for a long time.

At 19, Gauff became a Grand Slam champion at the 2023 US Open. Since then, she has added a second Grand Slam title to her collection after winning this year's French Open, and she is also a WTA Finals winner. The American was 20 when she achieved a career-high ranking of No. 2 in June 2024.

Gauff: Where I am now is where I'm supposed to be... This is the life I wanted

It feels like where I am now is where I'm supposed to be. I feel like this is the life that I wanted for myself and that I work for. I definitely feel like for the first like four years of my career, I couldn't believe that I was actually on tour and living the dream," the 21-year-old said in an interview with the WTA website.

In the same interview, Gauff acknowledged that some may think of her as a very serious person because of her on-court demeanor. But the reality is completely different.

I'm usually always happy on the court. People don't think so because I look so serious, but I am happy inside," the world No. 3 said.

Meanwhile, Gauff is heading to the WTA Finals in great spirits after recently winning the WTA 1000 tournament in Wuhan. For the American, winning back-to-back WTA Finals titles would be the ideal way to finish her season.

The WTA Finals in Riyadh takes place between November 01-08.
