Though he recently appeared for TNA Wrestling earlier this year, it was only a one-off. Kennedy has largely been absent from the spotlight in recent yearsbut longtime fans remember exactly why his name still carries weight.

Mr. Kennedy had a big run in WWE, where he was once viewed as a future main eventer. He won the Money in the Bank briefcase in 2007 but lost it shortly after due to injury. His time with the company came to an end in 2009 after issues backstage and reportedly injuring Randy Orton during a televised match. From there, he joined TNA (as Mr. Anderson), where he found new life, winning the TNA World Heavyweight Championship twice before his eventual exit in 2016 due to reported disciplinary issues and a failed drug test.

Since then, Kennedy has remained active in wrestling through his Academy School of Professional Wrestling, where he trains the next generation of talent. But a run in AEW could be the comeback fans have been waiting for. Mr. Kennedy is ready. Now its up to Tony Khan.
