Alberto Del Rios name has been floating around again thanks to WWEs acquisition of AAAbut the reality is very different than what some reports suggest.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter recently noted that WWE inherited Del Rios AAA deal after the takeover, leading to speculation that the former world champion could eventually appear on WWE programming. With chants of Alberto! breaking out at AAA events, some fans believed his return might be on the horizon.
But Sean Ross Sapp shut those rumors down during Fightful Selects Backstage Report. He said the talk of WWE interest in Del Rio is not only false but one of the most recycled fake stories hes ever had to address.
Sapp mentioned that no credible sources inside WWE are discussing Del Rios return, and theres no movement on the companys end to bring him back. While some may still push for his involvement due to his history and popularity in Mexico, the risks tied to his past controversies appear to outweigh any potential upside.
So for now, Del Rio remains a non-factor in WWEs plans, regardless of contracts or fan support. Ringside News will continue to provide updates on Del Rios status if they change.
