Taylor Fritz issued a very strong claim as the world No. 4 says the conditions on the ATP Tour have been extremely slowed down and that's causing injuries.

On Saturday, world No. 11 Holger Rune retired injured while a set up against Ugo Humbert in the Stockholm semifinal. Early in the second set, the Danish tennis star teared up and he could have been heard telling his team that he heard something pop in his tendon. The following day, the 22-year-old confirmed the worst news and announced Achilles surgery.

On X, reigning Miami Masters champion Jack Draper reacted to the Rune injury by stating that tennis players "are pushing our bodies to do things they arent supposed to in elite sport."

Fritz: More injuries and burnout now than ever before because of the slow conditions

Responding to Draper's post, Fritz stated: "Facts, also seeing more injuries and burnout now than ever before because balls, courts, conditions have slowed down a lot making the weekly grind even more physically demanding and tough on the body."

Fritz, who competed at this weekend's Six Kings Slam exhibition in Saudi Arabia and is now set to play in Basel, drew criticism from one fan for his take. But he had a proper explanation.

"Ya because of a new atp rule I've had to play every 500 event post Wimbledon to meet the new quota they have set of 500s played in a year to not get a ranking penalty. Also its funny because Laver Cup is 3 days and so is this event. Ive played 2 events for a total of 5 singles matches and 6 days total. Idk why we are acting like playing one of these events is the same as playing 5/6 matches over 2 weeks?" Fritz hit back at the fan.
