Lorenzo Musetti had a very brilliant season from all points of view, having consecrated himself as a top player and having entered the Top 10 of the ATP ranking for the first time in his career. The Italian ace has not won a title since 2022 and has lost the last five finals played, but if he continues to play this way it is only a matter of time before he breaks this little curse.
The talent from Carrara was extraordinarily consistent especially during the spring, taking advantage of his excellent attitude on red clay. He reached the final at the Monte Carlo Masters 1000 and the semifinals in Madrid, Rome and especially at Roland Garros, where he was playing a great match against Carlos Alcaraz on the iconic Philippe Chatrier court before giving up due to injury.
That issue forced him into a period of rehabilitation and prevented him from playing his best tennis at the Wimbledon Championships, where he was unable to defend the semifinal reached in 2024. Lorenzo also performed below expectations in his first tournaments on hard courts, but he reacted at the US Open by reaching the quarterfinals for the first time in his career.

Musetti continues to fight
Musetti currently occupies eighth place in the ATP Race and has a very good chance of qualifying for the Nitto ATP Finals which will take place in Turin next month. He is helped by the fact that Jack Draper ended his season early due to an arm injury, Alex de Minaur feels pain in his hip and Serbian legend Novak Djokovic has not revealed his schedule between now and the end of the year yet.
"I've played a lot in the last few months, almost every week, and I have to admit that I'm quite tired," Musetti revealed after his victory over Yannick Hanfmann in Brussels. "I'm trying to resist mentally and I want to fulfill my dream of being in the Finals. I improved a lot on this surface and I will give my best until the end" he concluded.
