AEW fans got an important update on Taz during this weeks episode of AEW Dynamite, as Excalibur announced live on air that the wrestling legend has officially undergone successful total shoulder replacement surgery.
The update comes after Taz initially revealed the news to fans on October 8 via Instagram Stories, where he said:
The procedure marks another major milestone in Tazs ongoing health journey. In 2024, he also had total knee replacement surgery, forcing him to take time off commentary to prioritize recovery.
While AEW didnt provide a timeline for his return, the fact that the surgery went well is a positive sign. Taz has been absent from recent AEW broadcasts, including the AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door pay-per-view, due to appointments and imaging scans leading up to the procedure.
Even though hes off the air, Taz remains one of the most iconic voices in AEWbringing decades of experience, authenticity, and sharp analysis to the commentary desk.
Fans everywhere are now wishing him a smooth recovery and looking forward to hearing The Human Suplex Machine back behind the mic when the time is right.
Do you think Taz should take as much time as he needs, or do you miss his voice already on AEW Dynamite? Share your thoughts and support in the comments.
