Andrade El Idolo shocked fans with his return to AEW earlier this month, attacking Kenny Omega and joining the Don Callis Family. But just as quickly as he arrived, Andrade has completely vanished from storylinesand now even insiders are unsure whats going on.
On the October 14 episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer discussed Andrades absence during a segment about the Don Callis Familys birthday celebration and AEWs crossover with NJPW. Alvarez pointed out that Andrade was not only missing from the televised segment but hasnt been mentioned at all in recent weeks.
Meltzer immediately questioned the situation.
Alvarez confirmed that Andrade had simply disappeared from AEW after his debut, even being pulled from a scheduled match against LA Park.
Meltzer admitted that people close to AEW know whats happening but are refusing to talk about it publicly.
When Alvarez pressed him on whether that was really the case, Meltzer doubled down.
Meltzer closed by saying Andrade is still booked for Puerto Rico, where hes expected to challenge for the WWC Universal Championship.
For now, Andrades status in AEW is up in the air. Whether this is a creative pivot, personal issue, or something else entirely remains unclearand fans are left waiting to see if his Puerto Rico booking even goes ahead.
Do you think AEW is intentionally keeping Andrade off TV for a storyline reason, or is there more going on behind the scenes? Share your thoughts in the comments.
