Nick Kyrgios reveals he does not consider Andy Murray a friend anymore after the former three-time Grand Slam champion "acted too important" and declined his invitation to be a guest on his podcast.

When Kyrgios first arrived on the Tour over a decade ago, he spoke extremely highly of Murray and named him as one of his idols. Needless to say, such comments instantly led to the former British tennis star admiring the Australian.

After publicly revealing his battle with depression a few years ago, Kyrgios also shared that Murray was one of the people who noticed he was self-harming and urged him to seek help. The former world No. 1 also made himself available to the Australian in case he needed any help or advice.

Last year, Kyrgios launched his Good Trouble podcast. Some of the guest names that appeared on his podcast include Novak Djokovic, Naomi Osaka, and John McEnroe. Now, the Australian suggests he badly wanted the British tennis legend as a guest, but the Briton - who retired from pro tennis last year - didn't show much interest in that.

Kyrgios: I wanted Murray on my podcast and he acted too important

I mean, I wouldnt even know if hes a friend anymore. I guess hes just like a colleague, like, I mean, we used to be closer, but then, I dont know. He was one of the people who was very supportive of me through that, but now we kind of dont talk as much. I wanted him on my podcast, and he acted too important. So theres your truth. Its like, bro, find some time," the 2022 Wimbledon finalist said on UNSCRIPTED by Josh Mansour.

Three months after retiring from pro tennis, Murray returned to the Tour in the form of a coach after he accepted to work with Djokovic. Their partnership lasted five months.

Meanwhile, Kyrgios made his post-surgery comeback at the start of 2025, but hasn't played since March due to wrist and knee issues.
