Fans at WWE Crown Jewel in Perth got more than they bargained for when CM Punk was spotted in the crowd during John Cena vs. AJ Styles and now we know why he was really there.
The RAC Arena was already rocking on Saturday night as John Cena and AJ Styles delivered one final chapter in their storied rivalry. The entire crowd turned into a sea of yellow shirts as Cena walked to the ring for what many believe could be his final match with Styles before his retirement. But behind the scenes, photos started surfacing online showing CM Punk quietly in attendance and it wasnt part of the show.
There was no angle. No surprise run-in. Just CM Punk in the audience, unannounced. That alone got fans asking questions. Fightful Select has now confirmed the situation, putting all speculation to rest.
Thats it. No storyline twist. No behind-the-curtain involvement. Punk showed up to witness two legends face off, just like any fan would. With no scheduled appearance or creative involvement, it appears Punk just wanted to see this historic clash live and in person.
Cena vs. Styles didnt disappoint either. From callbacks to Chris Jerichos Walls of Jericho and Bray Wyatts Sister Abigail, to John Cena hitting an RKO and even teasing a 6-1-9, it was a match loaded with fan service and respect for WWE history. Cena finally sealed the win with a Tombstone Piledriver followed by an Attitude Adjustment a definitive end to their rivalry, cheered wildly by the Perth crowd.
For Punk to be in the crowd for that moment says something. Maybe it was about respect. Maybe it was closure. Or maybe, even now, CM Punk is just a fan of the business.
