World no. 25 Stefanos Tsitsipas withdrew from the Shanghai Masters ahead of the second-round clash, citing leg injury. The Greek arrived in Shanghai but withdrew following another physical setback in his troubled season.

The former world no. 3 is 22-18 in 2025, lifting the ATP 500 trophy in Dubai in February and reaching a few more quarter-finals. However, multiple Major finalist has not won consecutive matches since Barcelona in April!

Stefanos has been dealing with back issues, struggling to impose his game and dropping out from the top-20. He embraced five year-end top-10 finishes between 2019 and 2023, while finishing 11th last year.

The Greek will not repeat that run this season, experiencing ups and downs and many setbacks due to pain that has plagued his game. Tsitsipas had a short coaching campaign with Goran Ivanisevic, which also ended badly.

Speaking about his father Apostolos in Shanghai, Stefanos praised their new relationship, calling it refreshing and enjoying the new dynamic they have created. While everything is fine between them, the Greek would love to add another name to the team to collaborate with his father.

The Greek revealed he underwent a treatment that helped him a lot. He now hopes to compete injury-free and regain his momentum in the closing stages of the season.

Stefanos should compete at the SixKings Slam in Riyadh on October 15, receiving the invitation following Jack Draper's withdrawal. The Greek should meet world no. 2 Jannik Sinner in the quarter-final.

Tsitsipas will do his best to recover and show up in Riyadh, with $1,500,000 as a guaranteedparticipation fee!
