Although Cody Rhodes is arguably WWEs top babyface, and hes raking in tons of cash with his work, his mother may have had a different idea for his life.

Cody Rhodes had a very impressive record as a high school amateur wrestler, with a record of 101-2, and he was only pinned four times. That being said, options were on the table for him to carry on with that career path, but he didnt do it.

While speaking on the Pat McAfee show, Cody Rhodes said that his father, Dusty Rhodes, was looked at like Gomez Adams, and he was always looked at as lesser, and not a real athlete, because he was a pro wrestler. Rhodes said he saw how people looked at his father at his meets, and this drove him to take it seriously.

Cody Rhodes then corrected a story that he committed to Penn State to wrestle there. He was going to Howard Fine acting studio, but my mom wanted that commitment. My mom, to this day, thinks I made the wrong career choices. I love her for that, but I think Mama Rhodes wanted a Runnels in Penn State for sports.

The American Nightmare also explained how Georgia wasnt the best state for amateur wrestling. He remembers going to nationwide wrestling camps over the summer and getting dogwalked. He kept the Vision Quest going, and even though he still feels bad for going another direction, its hard to argue that things turned out bad for him.
