Adam Copelands recent disappearance from AEW TV had fans spinning theories about a WWE comebackespecially one that would involve a final showdown with John Cena. But as we reported last week, that speculation was off the mark.
Copeland isnt jumping back into the wrestling ringhes stepping deeper into Hollywood.
Variety confirmed today that the WWE Hall of Famer has been cast in The Beekeeper 2, the sequel to Jason Stathams surprise action hit that grossed $162 million worldwide. Copeland joins an ensemble that also includes Pom Klementieff, Jeremy Irons, and Yara Shahidi.
Copelands role is still under wraps, but the sequel is now in production under director Timo Tjahjanto, with Kurt Wimmer returning as screenwriter. Jason Statham is also producing through his Punch Palace Productions banner, with Amazon MGM Studios handling worldwide distribution.
This isnt Copelands only screen venture right now. We reported last week that hes currently filming Season 3 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians for Disney+, where he reprises his role as Ares, the God of War. That role already earned him a nomination at the Childrens and Family Emmysno small feat for a wrestler-turned-actor.
So while fans may miss him inside the squared circle, Copeland is clearly focused on conquering Hollywood for now.
Adam Copelands star continues to rise outside the ring, and it looks like hes just getting started. Whether he returns to AEW or WWE down the line remains to be seenbut for now, hes all-in on the big screen.
