Paula Badosa ended her 2025 season by admitting she is going through "painful moments" once again, but has vowed to keep fighting and return next year.

After her troublesome back started to flare up once again earlier this year and it very negatively impacted the 27-year-old's play and forced her to miss some tournaments, the Spanish tennis star decided to take an extended break after Wimbledon.

Two weeks ago, Badosa returned to action at the Billie Jean King Cup Finals, where she lost to Elina Svitolina in her lone match played. At the ongoing WTA 1000 tournament in Beijing, the Spaniard won her opening match against Antonia Ruzic before retiring against Karolina Muchova in her following match.

And two days after her Beijing campaign ended in an unfortunate way, this year's Australian Open semifinalist decided to call it a year.

Badosa: There are tough times when I ask myself how I keep going... But I will keep pushing

There are tough times when I ask myself how I manage to keep going through the toughest, most painful moments. And the truth is, its in those exact moments that I discover the deepest strength inside me. Every setback hurts, but it also reminds me how badly I want to fight, how much I want to come back stronger," the 27-year-old wrote in a message posted on her Instagram Story.

Badosa also acknowledged the regular support she receives from her fans and team, before adding: No matter how many obstacles come my way, I promise you this: I will keep fighting, I will keep pushing, and I will keep finding my way back. See you all in 2026."

After struggling for a year with constant back issues, Badosa managed to stay healthy throughout the entire second part of 2024 and she made several notable results during that period. Then, she kicked off her 2025 season with a bang and made her maiden Grand Slam final at the Australian Open.

But what looked like a potentially big year for Badosa ended in disappointment as the Spaniard finished 2025 with an 18-12 record and went from being a top-10 player to sitting at No. 18 at the moment.
