AEW fans might finally be getting the Womens World Tag Team Championshipsbut dont get too excited just yet.

The belts do exist, and AEW President Tony Khan has confirmed that they were made a while ago. Still, their official debut remains up in the air, even as speculation swirls about what Khan plans to reveal during his big announcement on the September 24 episode of AEW Dynamite.

The latest hint came during Wrestling Observer Radio, when Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer were reviewing the AEW Womens World Championship tornado match between Toni Storm, Kris Statlander, Jamie Hayter, and Thekla. After Statlander pinned Storm clean in a shock finish, the conversation quickly shifted to what could be nextespecially with Storm suddenly beltless. Alvarez pointed out an intriguing social media clue that dropped just hours after the title change.

Meltzer didnt shoot the idea downin fact, he backed it up by revealing AEWs long-term plans:

Khan himself recently addressed the status of those titles in an interview with Iridian Fierro, confirming their existence but explaining that injury after injury has delayed their rollout.

He also mentioned just how damaging the womens Casino Gauntlet match was, stating that 25% of the competitors were knocked out of action in one night. Among those injured is Mina Shirakawafueling even more curiosity around the timing of her tweet.

With Kris Statlander now AEW Womens World Champion, Toni Storm looking for a new direction, and Shirakawa watching from the sidelines, the timing would seem right. But AEW has teased things before that never came to fruition, and no official confirmation has been made.

Fans will have to wait for Dynamite on September 24 to see whether Tony Khans big announcement really involves AEW Womens Tag Team Titlesor something else entirely.

What do you think Tony Khan will announce? Should AEW move forward with womens tag titles now, or wait until more of the roster is healthy? Drop your thoughts in the comments below.
