WWEs lucrative deal with ESPN was directly responsible for introducing the Wrestlepalooza Premium Live Event, which will be held in Indianapolis. The event was clearly not planned months in advance, as Triple H has revealed how quickly WWE put together the event.
While speaking to Patrick Talty, Triple H explained that Wrestlepalooza wasnt part of WWEs original yearly plan. Normally, WWE builds everything around a clear goal, its North Star, with WrestleMania as the key endpoint. But when ESPN asked for a major event to launch its new app, WWE moved quickly.
The Game revealed that ESPN requested a big first-run show and even provided the date. WWE chose Indianapolis as the host city and created Wrestlepalooza in a very short time, slotting it between two planned Premium Live Events.
Triple H said the challenge was making sure this brand-new event felt even bigger than the others while keeping WWEs long-term creative direction on track.
WWE Wrestlepalooza is going down on September 20th and the hype for the Premium Live Event is basically infinite at this point. So well have to wait and see whether it will end up surpassing all expectations, as its clear WWE is banking on its success in a big way.
What are your expectations for WWE Wrestlepalooza? Do you think this surprise, fast-tracked event will become a permanent part of WWEs annual schedule? Sound off in the comments.
