Vasek Pospisil together with Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic founded the Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA) with the desire to create an alternative tennis association for tennis players around the world.
Their intention was to create a system in which players would have the possibility to manage themselves, beingindependent from the established governing bodies of tennis.
Several well-known playershave decided to support this project. Among them are Reilly Opelka, Hubert Hurkacz, and many other tennis players who have left a significant mark in the world of tennis.
Earlier this year, the PTPA filed a lawsuit against the main governing bodies of tennis.
In his blog, Behind the Racket, Pospisil spoke openly about the tennis systems,frustrated by the behavior of the major bodies.
Recently, more and more former and current players are raising their voices, creatingorganizations that will put an end to non-transparency and inequality in sports.
Pospisil believes that tennis still lags behind other sports.
Although they initially tried to reach an agreement on cooperation with important tennis bodies, since they were rejected, they decided to start their own organization.
The goals
The aim of their latest moves is to ensure a better future for players, which includes higher prize money and better revenue sharing. Tennis players have been encountering serious problems and various obstacles for years.
However, names like Pospisil and Djokovic could transform the future of the rising tennis stars and give them a much better foundation for progress.
