Homecoming brought a big title match to the CW.
WWE NXTs September 16 episode was a very special one. NXT held a Homecoming special, marking its first event at Full Sail Arena in more than 2,000 days. This also included a big title match.
Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair helped kick off the Homecoming episode of NXT with a great segment. Then they stuck around to defend their WWE Womens Tag Team Titles against The Culling.
Izzi Dame and Tatum Paxley made their way to the ring, and they had a determined look in their twisted eyes. Paxley hugged Dame during their entrance, but Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss looked more than ready for the match.
Prior to the contest, they showed Tatum Paxley having a reunion with Lyra Valkyria, who was there for the Homecoming special. That was an interesting situation, as fans wondered if this may play into the title match.
These two teams brought everything they could for this match. Charlotte Flair was eventually tagged in with Izzi Dame after Tatum and Alexa started things off. This match continued as the action picked up, with Bliss and Flair hitting synchronized moves to send The Culling rolling outside as they cut to commercial.
This match kept going after the commercial break and there were a few near falls as fans attention and volume mounted. Alexa went to the top rope, but Izzi stopped her from hitting a Twisted Bliss. Then she hit it, but Paxley got her knees up. Despite having her feet on the ropes to cheat, Alexa kicked out.
This match started to get a bit chaotic near the end as Bliss and Tatum continued in the ring while Charlotte took Izzi outside the ring. Eventually, Bliss hit a Sister Abigail and won to retain the titles.
