X is not going to let Val Venis spread misinformation.
Val Venis reacted strongly online following the death of Charlie Kirk. In a post on X, he claimed that Kirk was not shot from a rooftop, but rather by a small-caliber firearm fired at close range. Venis argued that the fatal shot struck Kirks jugular and suggested government involvement, framing it as an act carried out by what he described as deep state murderers. He urged his followers to watch video footage, share it widely, and implied that taxpayers were funding the operation.
The post quickly drew a community note, from X as they slapped a label at the bottom of the Big Valbowskis post.
The community note directly addressed Venis claims, as it disputed the idea that Kirk was shot from close range with a palm pistol. Instead, it pointed to evidence from the available footage that undermines that theory.
On September 10, 2025, Charlie Kirk was shot and killed while speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. The event was part of his American Comeback Tour, organized by Turning Point USA, and it was also the first stop of his tour.
During an exchange with an audience member, Kirk was shot in the neck by a gunman positioned on a nearby rooftop about 142 yards away while he was debating the topic of gun violence. He was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
A suspect, 22-year-old Tyler James Robinson, was arrested on September 12. Authorities believe he acted alone. Bullets recovered from the rifle contained messages linked to internet culture. That being said, despite all the proof that they caught Charlie Kirks assassin, the internet is still full of conspiracy theories.
