After it was officially confirmed a few months ago that Keegan Bradley will be the captain of the American team at the Ryder Cup, many raised their voices. Most expressed skepticism, believing that Tiger Woods would have been a much better option for the role, but from today's perspective it appears that PGA of America leaders made the right decision.
Andrew "Chubby" Chandler, Rory McIlroy's former agent, in an interview with Casino Hawks, shared interesting details that were not known to the public until now. He revealed that Tiger Woods had an offer to become the captain of the American team, but the legendary golfer turned down the option.
Chandler also believes that there is a serious difference in ambition between European and American golfers.
"They offered it to Tiger, he didn't want it," Chandler told CasinoHawks.

"I think he might have bottled it, I don't know. He'd say maybe there wasnt enough time, but that's nonsense.
They don't treat it like we do though. America doesnt treat it like it's a big thing as Europe does, and they never have done. Patrick Reed is one of the few that treats it like we do but he's not in."
Speculations
Although it is known that Keegan Bradley will be the captain this year, there is already speculation about who could take over the captain's role in two years, both in the European and American teams.
Chandler believes that Justin Rose is likely to captain the European team in two years, given his vast experience and qualities that could be key to the success of the European team.
Much will depend on this year's edition and whether the European team will win or lose.

"If Justin Rose doesn't make the team, Justin Rose will be captain. Unless they go for a three-timer with Luke to wait for Justin to get old enough, or bad enough.
Because the thing with the Ryder Cup captain, you've got to be either old enough or bad enough, haven't you?"- he concluded.
