Brock Lesnar ruined a good thing in Chicago.

The September 5 episode of WWE SmackDown was quite an episode in the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois. Rosemont. This also started with a very interesting segment.

John Cena kicked off WWE SmackDown this week, and fans in Chicago were very excited to welcome him on his farewell tour. He also appreciated the warm reception.

He spoke about what made that night in Chicago special. Cena also made it clear that this is the last time he will ever be in Chicago and on SmackDown. Although that was sad, Cena was happy, because 22 years ago, fans allowed him to come down with Ruthless Aggression and start that crazy ride.

Fans chanted thank you, Cena as he continued. Then he thanked everyone for a great time as he started to leave. At that point, Sami Zayn showed up and the United States Champion made his way down to the ring. Zayn then started to speak to Cena about his retirement tour, and fans booed him a bit, which was odd.

Sami Zayn thanked John Cena for everything hes done for the locker room, and that got a cheer. Then Zayn thanked him especially for what he did for him. He brought up the US Open Challenge, and then Zayn said he wanted to continue paying it forward. That is when Zayn asked permission to start a Sami Zayn Open Challenge, which John Cena agreed to, but then Zayn stopped him. At that point, he offered the Greatest of All Time a US Title shot in Chicago. That match started right away.

The show went to commercial, and the match was in full swing by the time we got back. Fans in Chicago were all behind the Unseen 17 as he got to compete in his last US Title match. They battled in a back-and-forth match through another commercial interruption.

There were several near falls in this match, and fans were on the edge of their seats. One kick out at two saw Sami Zayn survive an Attitude Adjustment. Cena missed Sami in the corner, but then Zayn missed a Helluva Kick so Cena could hit an Angle Slam. Then this match went through another commercial break.

When the action returned, Sami nailed an exploder suplex and a Helluva Kick for a near fall. Then Cena caught Sami Zayn with a GTS for a near fall. That was the second infamous rivals finisher that Cena borrowed from in this match. Then Cena hit a Spear for a two count, which was a nod to Roman Reigns. Then Cena started to slither like Randy Orton, but Zayn blocked an RKO attempt. They moved to the top rope and then Cena hit an avalanche AA, but Cena couldnt make the pin.

Instead of ending the match, Brock Lesnars music hit and The Beast Incarnate came out to a roar from the Chicago crowd. Lesnar pulled the referee out of the ring and then destroyed Sami Zayn before turning his attention to John Cena where he hit two F5 finishers. The Chicago fans booed Lesnar as he made his way out of the ring.
