
Rory McIlroy is a golfer who shows serious ambitions from tournament to tournament. The Northern Irish golfer is currently competing in the Amgen Irish Open, aware that he has a great opportunity to win. However, the first day was not quite ideal for him, as he finished with a 71.
In an interview with the media, the famous golfer shared his emotions about this result. Although he seemed to be superior to his rivals at times, he suffered a huge slump towards the end of the first day and is aware that he has a lot to fix in the coming days.
The winner of the Masters hopes that the next few days will look a little better for him and he is already focusing on the aspects of the game that he has to work on.

"Yeah, felt like I played better than what the score reflects. Felt like I hit the ball well, drove the ball well; you know, just had that disappointing finish, bogeying two of the last three holes.
But actually pretty encouraged how I played. Just didn't score as well as I wanted to. Yeah, game feels pretty good. Yeah, as I said, off the tee was good. Was sort of a continuation of what I saw at East Lake a couple weeks ago. Just a matter of being more efficient with the scoring.."- he said.

The 36-year-old golfer feels that he is making certain progress that will be important for him before the Ryder Cup, a prestigious competition that for many is probably the most important tournament of the year.

Rory McIlroy reflected on his misses, a little frustrated that he could have taken a bigger step.
However, he hopes that the next day will offer something completely different and that he can ultimately finish at the top of the table, and possibly win the trophy.
"Yeah, a little bit. Ball striking-wise I thought I was pretty good today. Then, yeah, around the greens for the most part I was good. I missed a couple mid-range putts there at the end of the round to save par and that one at the last for birdie, but felt like I hit decent putts and just hitting edges.."
