
The September 3 edition of AEW Dynamite ended with a huge moment for the womens division, as Riho made her long-awaited return to the company and immediately went after Mercedes Mon.
After Mon successfully defended her TBS Championship against Alex Windsor in a hard-fought match, things quickly got chaotic. Mon refused a handshake post-match, and Windsor retaliated with a sneak attack. The TBS Champ regained control and locked in her Statement Maker submissionbut she didnt see what was coming next.
Riho stormed the ring to a massive reaction, climbing to the top rope and leveling Mon with a double stomp. The first-ever AEW Womens World Champion soaked in the moment before following up with a basement dropkick that sent Mon crashing out of the ring.
This marks Rihos first appearance in AEW in over a yearher last match taking place on the July 6, 2024 episode of AEW Collision. Her return instantly reignites fresh intrigue in the womens division and throws a new challenger into the mix for the TBS Title.
Meanwhile, Mon continues her run toward the record books. With another win under her belt, she inches closer to Jade Cargills record-setting 508-day reign as TBS Champion.
