Amanda Anisimova has gotten her revenge over Iga Swiatek after upsetting the Pole 6-4 6-3 to reach the US Open semifinal.

A month and a half ago, the 24-year-old American suffered the most painful defeat of her career after the Polish tennis star handed her a 6-0 6-0 loss in the Wimbledon final.

Today, Anisimova started slowly and lost her serve in the very first game of the match. However, the No. 8 seed didn't panic and erased the deficit by claiming breaks in the second and 10th games to overturn the deficit and seal the opener.

The second set started the same way as the first - Swiatek broke her rival in the opening game of the set. Once again, the home player didn't panic and responded with breaks in the fourth and eighth games to once again overturn the deficit and get the job done in two sets.

During the match, Anisimova fired 23 winners and 12 unforced errors, while also converting four of her nine break point chances. In the semifinal, the American tennis star will face the winner of the match between Naomi Osaka and Karolina Muchova.

Anisimova learned her lesson

After setting up a US Open quarterfinal against Swiatek, Anisimova insisted that she learned some valuable lessons from her Wimbledon final loss to the Pole and that she knew what to do differently against the Pole.

I dont think it helped me become a better player in any way. It wasnt a good performance by any means. I feel like maybe I learned some things from it and some things I can do differently, but above all I think it was just a learning experience. Bouncing back from that actually was a little bit difficult because that never happened to me before. But Ive worked through it, and the hard-court season started off strong for me. So I feel like I have moved on from that at this point," Anisimova said before the match.
