Dynasties often look seamless from the outside, but Klay Thompson has reminded fans that even the Golden State Warriors werent immune to internal friction during their historic run.
Thompson reflected on his years alongside Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Steve Kerr.
While the Warriors won four championships between 2014 and 2022, Thompson admitted that the journey wasnt without conflict.
For us, there have been a lot of scuffles, a lot of bad words said, and feelings hurt, while speaking on the Showtime With Coop podcast. But at the end of the day, we know we just want to win, Thompson said. There were times there would be friction, whether it be Draymond and I, or Steph and I, or Coach and I. Its just part of it. And you grow from it. You be man enough to leave that on the court and be a professional about it.
He elaborated that those disagreements werent isolated moments like Draymond Greens heated clash with Kevin Durant or the infamous practice punch involving Jordan Poole.
Instead, they were part of the daily grind that comes with competing at the highest level.
The Warriors ability to channel those moments into success helped cement them as one of the NBAs greatest dynasties.
Thompson embraced sacrifices during Kevin Durants tenure, just as past stars like Scottie Pippen and Kevin McHale did in their championship years.
Thompson says the brotherhood inside Golden State was always stronger than the friction. Its just part of it. And you grow from it, he said. You be man enough to leave that on the court and be a professional about it.
