Theres no doubt that quite a few people think Conor McGregor was born to be a WWE Superstar and now it seems there were plans for him to have a match at WrestleMania in the past.
While speaking to Julian Dorey, Enzo Amore revealed that WWE once had a plan for him to start a storyline with Conor McGregor, but it never happened. He said that he was sent to the McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather boxing match by Vince McMahon himself. At that time, Enzo was the Cruiserweight Champion and part of a tag team with Big Cass, but they were about to split up.
When WWE was planning their next steps, Big Cass was told what hed be doing, and Enzo was told he would stay Cruiserweight Champion and start talking trash about McGregor online. The idea was to create drama and possibly build toward a match at WrestleMania.
Enzo explained that he was supposed to become a heel who talks a lot but runs away when its time to fight, something that would fit well if he went up against someone like McGregor. In the end, the plan was dropped and never made it to TV.
Conor McGregor is definitely no stranger to engaging in online feuds with WWE Superstars, notably having a heated exchange with Roman Reigns Special Counsel, Paul Heyman, earlier last year. Following their exchanges,Heyman issued a warning to Conor McGregor. Conor McGregor even called outRoman Reigns for a match at WWE SummerSlamback in 2023.
Many fans still dream of seeing Conor McGregor in a WWE match. Enzo Amores story shows that WWE once thought about making that happen, maybe even at WrestleMania. It didnt work out, but it shows they were interested. No one knows if McGregor will ever wrestle in WWE, but if he does, it would be a big deal and fans would be very excited.
