Andy Roddick loved the Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova moment at the Hall of Fame, but also took the opportunity to crack a Roger Federer joke and state that he would vote against the Swiss entering the HoF.

Sharapova, who finished with five Grand Slams, could have a lot more in her career if not for 19 consecutive losses to Williams between 2005 and 2019. On top of that, there was a tense past between the two. But on Saturday, it was the American who introduced the Russian as the former world No. 1 was set to be inducted into the HoF in Newport.

When Roddick became a Grand Slam champion at the 2003 US Open - just days after turning 21 - he was tipped to win multiple Majors easily. And while the American made four Grand Slam finals in the rest of his career, he never lifted his second trophy on the biggest - the culprit was Federer, who was the American's rival in each of those four finals.

The Swiss tennis icon, whose last main-level tournament was 2021 Wimbledon, will be eligible for the Hall of Fame next year.

Roddick: I will personally vote against Federer being a HoF nominee... Screw him

"We're gonna have a comp, as close as you can get to a comp next year, because I think a guy named Federer might be on the ballot... I will personally vote against him because, screw him. I won't vote against him," the former three-time Wimbledon finalist joked on the Served with Andy Roddick.

Federer defeated Roddick in the 2004, 2005 and 2009 Wimbledon finals, with the last one being the most painful as the Swiss won it after taking the decider with a 16-14 final-set scoreline.

"I'm so in love with that tournament (Wimbledon) that it would have filled my heart with love to walk in there being one of them, meaning one of the champions. So I would have been endlessly humbled by that," Roddick admitted on his podcast in the spring.
