AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door is shaping up to be another massive spectacle but with a twist.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez dropped new insight into what fans can expect in the main event, and it involves some major names along with a few health concerns.

The final match of the night is expected to be the Lights Out Steel Cage Match, a brutal showdown featuring Kota Ibushi, Kenny Omega, Will Ospreay, Hiroshi Tanahashi, and Darby Allin against Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Gabe Kidd, and The Young Bucks. These types of matches have historically closed AEW events, so its no shock this one will end the night.

Meltzer noted that while the Bucks, Moxley, and Darby appear healthy, not everyone else is in top form heading into the event.

Several of the people in the match are injured in some way, outside of the Bucks, Moxley and Darby, Meltzer stated, suggesting that the match could mirror a previous Japanese version known as the Dog Pound Steel Cage, one that Ospreay took part in before leaving NJPW.

Forbidden Door is scheduled to go down Sunday, August 24, at Londons O2 Arena. AEW will need to wrap the event before the venues strict 10:30 p.m. curfew to avoid a 10,000-per-minute fine. With the main card beginning at 6 p.m. BST, that gives the company a max runtime of four and a half hours.

With big names, a legendary match format, and looming injuries, AEW will need to execute perfectly to deliver a satisfying close without risking serious consequences.
