The Italian, who will compete in the Cincinnati Masters semi-final, has only two days to find a replacement if he wants to remain in the field. Jannik and Emma did not know each other before the draw was announced.
The pair sparked attention in the previous weeks, especially after lighthearted exchanges and jokes. Navarro often teased Sinner about needing to improve in doubles, turning their partnership into a fan favorite.
However, the American decided to skip the event, leaving the Italian in a challenging situation, especially following his duties on the court. Tournament rules allow players to "repair" until Sunday afternoon.
