Naomi Osaka may not be competing at the Cincinnati Open but she is still making some big moves after selling her luxurious Los Angeles mansion for nearly $8 million.
In 2022, the Japanese tennis giant paid $6.3 million to celebrity couple Nick and Vanessa Lachey to buy their house located in the San Fernando Valley. The house - which was once owned by Tarzan creator Edgar Rice Burroughs - is popularly called "Tarzana."
During her time as the house owner, Osaka made a couple of upgrades to what was already a highly luxurious mansion - she added an outdoor pool and a pickleball court. However, due to some reasons known to her, the four-time Grand Slam champion decided to sell the house. And the Latchey's bought it back for a $7.9 million price, via The Wall Street Journal.
Osaka said the fire was 'three blocks' from her Los Angeles house
While Osaka was competing at the Australian Open, Los Angeles was being ravaged by wildfires. In one of her interviews, the 27-year-old revealed that her house wasn't that far from being caught by fire. And after hearing about it, the Japanese got very concerned about possibly losing the birth certificate of her two-year-old daughter Shai and sent someone to pick it up.
"I was watching the fire map and the fire is three blocks from my house. I had someone go get my daughter's birth certificate," Osaka said at the time.
"It is really difficult for me because, I don't know, I think it's tougher now because I find now my home is more of a home because I have memories with my daughter. There's so many things, keepsakes and stuff like that. Obviously you can't hoard them all when you're asking them to go to your house and just grab stuff. So it is really tough in that sense."
