Coco Gauff appears to be finding her form just before the US Open as the American tennis star routinely handled world No. 61 Lucia Bronzetti 6-2 6-4 to reach the Cincinnati Open quarterfinal.
Prior to coming to Cincinnati, the world No. 2 picked up back-to-back first-round exits in Berlin and Wimbledon. Then, the two-time Grand Slam champion struggled heavily with her play and double faults in Montreal before losing in the round-of-16.
After not playing well for a month and a half, Gauff is looking much better in front of her home fans in Cincinnati. Following a first-round bye, the home star delivered a convincing display to beat Wang Xinyu 6-3 6-2. In the third round, she was slated to play Dayana Yastremska but the Ukrainian had to pull out of the match due to illness.

Today, Gauff returned to action after four days and started off by breaking Bronzetti three times in the first set. In the second set, the No. 2 seed blew an early - but didn't panic - and broke the world No. 61 again in the 10th game, when the Italian was serving to stay in the match.
Most importantly, the American served well today as she fired six aces and had only three double faults.
Who is Gauff's next Cincinnati rival?
For a place in the Cincinnati semifinal, the home player will take on the winner of the match between No. 7 seed Jasmine Paolini and 2024 Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova.
Before starting hercampaign at the American WTA 1000 tournament, Gauff deleted the X application from her phone to avoid distractions.
"I had to delete Twitter after last week because Im too involved with Love Island. and then Tennis Twitters coming up, and you know, theres all this drama from that and Love Island. Then for some reason, The Summer I Turned Pretty was coming up, and Id never watched that, but I was into it even not watching the show! I was like, Ok, Im getting too addicted. So, I have no Twitter on my phone anymore," the 21-year-old explained.
