Jessica Pegula admits she has no plans to stick around the Tour for a very long time as the American tennis star says she "definitely" won't be playing pro tennis at the age of 35.

The 2024 US Open finalist, who celebrated her 31st birthday in February, has had a bit of a turbulent season so far but she has still won three titles this year and she is sitting at No. 4 in the world.

This summer, one of the main storylines of the North American hard-court swing has been Venus Williams' return to tennis at 45. A couple of years ago, Serena Williams was 40 when she played her last pro match at the US Open.

From the current top-10 group, Pegula is the oldest player. However, while she is still one of the best in the game - even in her early thirties - the nine-time WTA champion has no plans to follow in the footsteps of the Williams sisters.

Pegula: I won't play at 35... But I may try to get to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics

"I don't, I would definitely not be playing at 35, definitely not. I think that's where I for sure have to stop. I think at 31? Yeah, I think it would be cool maybe like to try and make the Olympics, because it's in LA in a couple years. Three years, that's a long time, though. I'm counting technically like two years, because then you qualify, so I'll probably have an idea by then if I'm in or not. So we'll make it sound like two, it's three," the 31-year-old said during her conversation with Caroline Garcia on the Tennis Insider Club.

Since winning Bad Homburg, Pegula has gone only 2-4 in her last six matches. However, at the ongoing Cincinnati Open, she made a positive start and beat Kimberley Birrell 6-4 6-3.

Pegula made her first Cincinnati final last year before losing to Aryna Sabalenka.
