Jannik Sinner will make his Cincinnati Masters 1000 debut today and will try to defend the title he won in Ohio a year ago, when he had a run full of difficulties demonstrating his incredible mental strength once again. The world No.1 was not at the top of his shape in the 2024 edition, being conditioned by the imminent verdict of ITIA relating to his doping case, but he was able to lift the trophy by beating rivals of the caliber of Andrey Rublev, Alexander Zverev and Frances Tiafoe.
That success gave him the confidence to triumph at the US Open at the end of the summer, in a tournament conditioned by the premature eliminations of Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic during the first week. This means that the Italian ace will have to defend 3000 points between Cincinnati and New York, while his top rival Alcaraz was prematurely eliminated in these two tournaments last season and will be able to take advantage of this circumstance.

Despite having to miss three months in 2025 due to his controversial ban, the four-time Grand Slam champion has already achieved the mathematical certainty of participating in the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin in November.
Sinner returns to the China Open
A few hours ago, it was also announced that Jannik will take part in the Beijing ATP 500 as the first tournament after the US Open. The prestigious Chinese tournament is scheduled for September 24-30, and Sinner has already lifted the trophy there in the 2023 edition, when he defeated Carlitos Alcaraz in the semifinals and Daniil Medvedev in the final.
He also participated in this event last year, when he was defeated by Alcaraz at the end of a truly electrifying final that can be counted among the best matches of 2024. Jannik's schedule should also include the Shanghai Masters 1000, where he triumphed last year by beating 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic in the final.
